I've been wearing these pants everyday for 3 months now. I suspect I have worn the same pair more than anyone else outside of LTT staff. They are nice pants, very comfortable, and fit well. Overall, I think they are quality product, but a bit overpriced. I would be a lot more interested if there was a work wear focused version.
I work a variety of trades, and so I tend to go through pants quickly. I was not expecting these to last as long as they have, but they have surprised me so far. that being said, they needed some help along the way. So far I have patched them 4 times, and close to needed several more in some areas. I will continue to wear them until they completely give out on me.
What I liked:
Very comfortable, light, stretchy, and reasonably durable. I really like the number of pockets. Front pockets are great for screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, etc. I thought the magnetic pocket closures were gimmicky at first, but they are decent. Just be aware if you work around metal fab, they do attract shavings and dirt like nothing else. The double front knees are nice, because I was able to open up the stitching and slide in some knee pads, which really helps. The material is fairly abrasion resistant, and somewhat heat resistant - I haven't had any problems melting holes in it from welding or grinding while wearing them.
What I didn't like:
My biggest complaints are pocket size and belt loops: The belt loops are way too flimsy. I have had 3 break on me; the first on the right side, then the rear two. I fixed the rear ones by sewing a large strip of leather across then whole back, and it works well. The side one may have broken because that is wear I clip my keys, but it was easily fixed with a small leather patch as well.
The "hammer loop" is nearly useless. It might be fine for small hammers, but it's too small and lightweight for a framing hammer or larger.
The main pockets are all too small. The front pockets seem to barely fit my iPhone 14 Pro upright. I haven't had any issues with it falling out, but its too close for comfort. The cargo pockets can hold small stuff, but not nearly as much as I'm used to. My Duluth pants can fit a full sized iPad, for example.
The inside corners of the pocket seem to be a weak spot with the hard angles. One side has ripped out on me, and the other is close. I was worried the lighter weight pocket material would get ripped easily with pliers/knives/screwdrivers that I typically carry, but so far I've not had any holes in the pockets.
The zippers on the pockets are fine, I guess. I never really used them. good to have options though.
While I rarely used it, I did appreciated the zippers on the leg opening from time to time. They can open up wide enough to go over the top of rubber boots if you need to, great for keeping snow out of your boots.
The material is also a bit loud. Not normally an issue, but definitely a consideration if you ever wear them hunting.
Overall, I've got to say I'm impressed. They aren't designed for the kind of abuse I put them through, but they held up surprisingly well. They are good pants for someone in an office job, who needs or likes pockets, maybe repair techs or installers. But if you need work wear, stick to Duluth or Carhartt. They are slightly overpriced in my opinion - I'd be happy with them more in the $70-80 range, but they are definitely quality pants.
If there is ever a design revision here is what I would love to see: heavy duty belt loops, bigger pockets, kneepad slot, and reinforced pocket corners, Also a fleece lined pair would be great for winter months. Unless I see some of those changes, I won't be buying a second pair.
If Linus is reading this I give them 2 stars for everyone else its 3 stars. The fit is great for those with nerd builds like myself, LOVE the magnetic cargo pocket flaps. Has lots of pockets, almost too many pockets. The problem I had was at work. My job has me apply vinyl wrap on dance floors and about half way through I got a little lazy and started putting my right knee down while moving across the floor and even though the vinyl is smooth the heat from the friction softened the material up enough that it put a tare in the top layer. Thankfully the pants have an extra layer of material on the knees so the pants didn't become ventilated. This isn't a problem I have with my other work pants Carhartt and Dickie. I still like the pants but I took them out service for now. I'm going to learn to sow a patch of something more robust on the knees and put them back in service but for the price I feel I shouldn't have this problem.
I got these pants to have something between jeans and shorts for crazy Midwest weather. These are super comfortable and the pockets are expertly laid out. They are a bit ‘noisy’ but I’m guessing that will work out of them eventually. Overall a great pair of pants.
They do the thing pants do
Very nice. The fit for 42" is perfect. I like the way the material feels while being worn. It all seems good so far.
