I like the jacket a lot. Compared to other light winter jackets, it looks very slim and thin, and I was surprised how warm it actually feels. So warm in fact that even when wearing only a T-shirt under it, I actually opened the front zipper when moving around too much because I started sweating in fairly chilly (5 degrees Celsius) weather. I like the fit a lot, just like the windbreaker, it's not too bulky and still adjusts to your body proportions.
Overall: visually, the jacket looks lighter and skinnier than I expected, but it actually wears and feels warmer than I expected. I don't think I will be using it for the purpose I initially bought it for (windy and chilly autumn/spring weather), but will actually wear this in the winter. So that's the only "complaint" I can think of: In European climate, even when only wearing a T-shirt underneath, this is more of a real winter jacket than an autumn/spring jacket for me. Which I am honestly pretty happy about.
Pretty good jacket, works well even if it's a little warm out. my one complaint is the material inside the sleeves and the sleeve diameter. The size of the sleeve around my upper arm is a little tight, that plus the "sticky-ness" (technical term) of the material makes it kinda a pain to take off the jacket. Other than that I really like it!
Pretty nice jacket, I expected something warmer, but I have yet to try it in proper cold weather. Quite large size wise, which is good, you'll be able to fit a thick sweater underneath it. Works great to protect from wind and rain though.
Feels like a quality object, so definetly worth the price. As well built as pricier garments on the market.
Would score it 4.5 if that was an option.
First off - I purchased this jacket shortly after it was launched. This is very similar to a jacket I wear in the colder months and looked to be a refresh on a jacket I've been wearing for 5+ years now. So I thought it would be perfect for me - albeit overpriced.
However, after first trying it out, I noticed a few design decisions that led me to question whether or not this will be a part of my daily wear when it gets cold again (tl;dr - likely will not, might gift to someone)
1) Hood is oversized and easily covers your eyes (something other reviewers have pointed out). I'm unable to use the hood at all - this is not an exaggeration. I can't see when walking. I have several other hooded jackets and never had this issue - it does seem like a design intent. When models where it on the store page, like Geoff, it seems he's holding the hood up/back or positioning it in such a way that doesn't show the true form of the hood. David's photo is the closest to reality.
2) The sleeves on my jacket are a bit long for my size - I went with the small size and am about 5'5" to 5'6" and around 135lbs. I typically fit your average "small" jacket or sometimes "extra small" when available. These sleeves though were just way to long for me and I found myself having to constantly hike the sleeves up.
3) Pockets - For a lot of these jackets you'd typically find larger interior pockets (inside by the exterior hand pockets) that could fit a hat or other smaller items. I should've noticed from the picture that it didn't have these types of pockets though. For me, that's a big oversight that other similar jackets include.
Conclusion - The hood is the real disappointment as I was hoping to combine two of my jackets into one. With all that said - It's a high price to pay for a jacket that you could find similarly elsewhere (no 3D Down) for half the price or less. Brands like Patagonia, Calvin Klein, Port Authority, North Face, Eddie Bauer, etc. Something like this would definitely benefit from the ability to try-on before purchasing like you would in a department store.
I'll try to find a use for it or gift it to someone else who it might be a better fit for.
Bought this jacket for walks in autumn/spring weather where it can be warm, but rain with little more than a moment's notice. It's not heavily insulated, so you remain fairly cool while wearing it. The jacket is heavier than others of its thickness, but the inner material feels great and you hardly notice it after a few minutes wear.
Overall construction quality seems good, and seems fairly durable.
It will happily resist wind and rain effectively. But if you want to wear it in winter, I recommend you do so as a top layer over some insulation.
I'd say while it's a pricey bit of kit. It does the job of an everyday, light, weather resistant jacket exceptionally well
