Engineered for your gear
The quick-access tech compartment features a padded laptop pocket with a floating bottom, a raised microsuede-lined tablet sleeve, and stretchy pockets for your chargers and cables. It extends out to give you full access to your devices in seconds, saving you time every day.

Surprising amount of storage
A 20L external volume and a large storage compartment we call “the bag of holding” is built to fit and organize your day-to-day essentials.

Quick-access external pockets

Pockets a little tight for some items but the storage space is amazing otherwise! Amazing quality materials too!

Good for price; too specific/inflexible use case

tl;dr: Only one compartment for general storage makes it hard to recommend. Otherwise good, especially for price.

Bought this for college since my previous backpack was falling apart. Similarly built products seem to float around the $200-300 price point (could probably find cheaper if I looked hard), so it seems like a good value, especially for the base $120 I paid.

My main complaint is that the tech compartment could've been extended by under an inch (in depth) to make the backpack much more flexible. As it stands, it doesn't seem designed for anything to go outside of the designated pockets. A little extra room would make the tech compartment much more usable as a secondary storage space without compromising on the usability/function of the side pouches (as far as I can tell). Most notably, it would help if I need to store one or two large, flat objects like books, binders, notebooks, etc. (second laptop, dac/amps, flat toolbox...) that would, if stored in the main compartment, either make sorting with/around anything not in that form factor much more difficult, or flop around and mess with center of gravity, making the backpack harder to wear as a whole. I think that extra room would've gone a long way towards making the backpack more recommendable to a general population (especially the one most associated with needing backpacks) without much sacrifice.

A smaller complaint is that if I needed to use the admin panel more often, the fact that it's in the main compartment makes it annoying to get at when taking advantage of the space in that compartment. That's a reasonable design tradeoff and not something that seems easy to "fix," but if anybody would want to use the panel a lot, it can be a major deal-breaker (a problem that, as I mentioned before, could've been made a lot better if the tech compartment could handle at least a few items/the worst offenders).

Overall, while a good product for what it tries to be, it's hard for me to recommend the commuter backpack to anyone who doesn't use it in exactly the way Linus seems to (e.g. shorter trips with a largely fixed set of easily organized items and an at most occasional need for smaller items) 100% of the time. I can make do for when I want something slightly different, but I'd be working against the designers, which is obviously not the kind of relationship I'd want to have with a product. It's also frustrating that this could've been mostly resolved with what seems like a fairly simple tweak that was probably overlooked due to a complete focus on a single use case.
