First time buyer because the discount helped with shipping cost. This far exceeded my already high expectations from LTT. Such a thoughtful, high quality backpack. This makes me feel confident to get more LTTstore products in the future

The best backpack

Absolutely love it. The amount of pockets is insane. The quality of the materials is superb. Feels like I will wear out before this bag.

Broken Promises and Endless Delays: My Final Disappointment with the LTT Store

I’ve been a loyal fan of Linus Tech Tips for years, proudly owning the original LTT backpack, a mousepad, water bottles, the tech bag, and even their pants. I’ve always loved their content and wanted to support their store. However, my experiences with the LTT Store’s constant delays and lack of accountability have finally pushed me to write this negative review.

When the original backpack faced drama and delays, I shrugged it off because I truly believed in LTT’s vision and was willing to be patient. But over time, the same issues kept coming up: constant shipping delays, unhelpful “service alerts,” and excuses about backlogs and tariffs. It feels like there’s always a “new reason” why my orders can’t arrive on time. And although delays can happen with any company, the frequency and repetitiveness of these problems at LTT Store shows poor planning and zero improvement in their processes.

Now, with the Commuter Backpack, LTT Store has reached a new level of disappointment. They promised compatibility with the 16-inch MacBook Pro, only to retract that claim after many customers (understandably) complained about the fit. While I appreciate that they’re offering returns and cancellations, it shouldn’t have taken frustrated buyers calling them out on social media to make them reconsider their product specs. If a laptop doesn’t fit properly, the store should have tested more thoroughly or been upfront about the fact that it’s a “tight squeeze” at best.

The worst part is the ongoing parade of contradictory emails: first they say the backpack will ship by a certain date, then they push it back, then they blame port backlogs, then they blame tariffs, and so on. Every email update is another excuse, another “thanks for understanding”, another wave number that changes. Meanwhile, I’m stuck waiting with no real confidence in their timelines. Considering the high price point of their products, I expect much better communication, transparency, and accountability from a store that touts its community-driven values.

I was patient through the original backpack’s chaos because I believed LTT would learn and grow. Clearly, that hasn’t happened. The store repeatedly drops the ball, promises big, and delivers late. It’s time to admit that while Linus Tech Tips may be great at making content, the LTT Store just isn’t up to par.

Unless something changes drastically—like consistent, on-time fulfillment and honest, clear communication—I can’t recommend buying from the LTT Store anymore. The products might be decent when they finally show up, but getting them has become such a hassle that it completely ruins the experience. This Commuter Backpack debacle is the last straw for me.

Overall good bag if you need something focused on commuting to and from work. It holds a laptop and tablet nicely in the dedicated back compartment, but not much else afterwards.

The front compartment is the star of the show. I can fit my assorted chargers, wires, backup battery, mouse, lunch bag, Steam Deck, assorted other small items/snacks, and a hoody comfortably. The way the zippers allow the front to fold all the way down makes it easy to get things in and out.

There are a few downsides. It seems to attract dust, dirt, and pet hair much more so than any other bag i have had prior. Even the original LTT bag. It wipes off easy with a wet paper towel but it needs to be done weekly vs biyearly or never with other bags. I think a grey version would be a great option to counteract the material.

The glasses pocket has a weird angle which makes getting things in and out difficult especially if you have the main compartment loaded up.

So close to perfection! A fantastic backpack that could be 5 stars with a few tweaks.

This is my first nice backpack in a long time, so all in all I'm very pleased with the purchase. I look forward to spending more and more time with it! However there are a handful of things I would have done differently, and some subjective things a future purchaser might want to know.

PROS:
-Price. Transparently I did get this with the YouTube Shopping promotional, however I was fully prepared to spend the full amount at launch. $150 for a backpack of this quality is amazing.
-Balance. I love having a backpack that stands up on its own. Granted, if all you have inside is a heavy laptop then it likes to tip over, but that's just physics. When I have my tech sack and some binders in the front and my laptop + accessories in the back, it stands up beautifully and I appreciate that.
-Stoutness. It's a solid backpack and holds its shape very well, it's almost like a soft box. It's mailable if you press on it, but if you pick it up by the handle and hold it at an angle there's no drooping. Combined with the dual layer bottom and padded compartments, I'm confident my stuff is safe.
-Zippers. The zippers are the same on the tech sack, very high quality and they're fun to open and close.
-BOTTLE HOLDERS. I loooove having a bottle holder on each side of the bag! I do have a "con" related to this but overall I'm very happy to have options where my drinks go.
-Overall quality. The Repreve material is fantastic, the colors are great, it's a joy to open, close, and carry this bag around.

CONS:
-Adjustable chest strap. The chest strap itself is fine, but the way you adjust it is quite tricky where you have to move the plastic adjuster into one of four loops on the main backpack straps. Granted you probably won't be adjusting this very much once it's set where you like it, but I do wish it was one solid track instead of four different loops. This was an odd decision.
-It gets dirty easily. One of the downsides of the Repreve fabric is how dirty it gets. The tech sack had this same issue where it would pick up dust and dirt that gets into the fibers and doesn't like to come out. It doesn't really take much for the bag to look dirty, and I'm not looking forward to it sitting on airport and convention hall floors.
-The inside pockets. The pockets in the main compartment don't have a lot of room in them. This becomes a problem when the laptop compartment has a lot of stuff in it because it robs room from the main compartment's pockets. I really wish these were sown in with a little more room in them or at least all made to be stretchy (there's one pocket like this in the main compartment, a black elastic pocket). Right now I have my laptop, mouse, and charger in the laptop compartment. I have almost no room to put things in the main compartment pockets unless they're flat-ish. You really have two options: have a lot of stuff in the laptop compartment and little to no stuff in the main compartment pockets, or vice versa.
-Too many pouches and pockets, not enough space. I think this bag suffers from wanting to have a lot of places for things, without actually having a lot of room to put them. There's so many pockets and pouches, but not a lot of actual room to use them all at once. Granted you don't HAVE to use them all at once, but I do think they went a little feature crazy on this relatively small bag. I think there needed to be two or three fewer pockets on the inside in order to maximize space for the rest of the pockets and focus the purpose of the bag.

Here are some nice-to-know things.
-Smell. The Repreve fabric smells a lot like a pencil sharpener. You know the smell, that graphite, wood smell as if you're cleaning out a pencil sharpener. This doesn't really bother me but my wife noted the smell and doesn't really care for it. I'm sure this will go away with time.
-Hidden zipper pockets in the bottle holders. I like the idea in theory, however if you plan on putting bottles in these pockets then you won't have much room for other stuff except papers and other flat stuff, you'll probably wind up using the hidden pocket OR the bottle holder, but likely not both at once. I would have much preferred a zipper at the opening of the bottle holder so that you have the option of closing it off entirely if you wanted to quickly store your wallet, keys, airpods, etc in them.
