Nice bag, but needed to figure out how to make use of it

TL;DR: works well with tech pouches, otherwise things get stacked up. Internal pockets are hard to make use of.
———
I’m impressed by the build quality and looks, but I was initially pretty disappointed with the functionality/internal layout.
It’s hard to find suitable items to put in the pockets since they’re flat and tucked in the back, and the stretchy pockets in the laptop compartment are too high to comfortably reach into.
But my main problems were with the “bag of holding” area - things end up stacked on top of each other since there’s no compartments. I‘ve figured out that it works out better when you have pouches to organize things. While this allows for more customization, it also takes time and effort to figure out how to lay things out.
My first impressions weren’t great, especially since this was my first expensive bag, but it kinda grew on me once I figured out where to put things. The bag can hold a lot more than it looks, especially if you make use of the side pockets, and the silhouette is sleek, so I feel more like a professional instead of a student.
Overall, while I had the wrong impression that it should “just work”since it’s expensive, I grew to like it and I think it’s worth the price.

Perfect everyday backpack

Attractive, quality, durable, comfortable and well-appointed backpack for my everyday. Holds my laptop and peripheries, lunch, coffee, umbrella, glasses securely in a nice sexy package. Love the easy to access secret compartments for my wallet or phone and the microfibre lined top pocket.

Great backpack :)

The bag itself is fantastic. I couldn't justify the original due to the size and price so this was essentially the exact thing I was looking for.

I use this bag when travelling to the office and I am more than satisfied. I love the design of splitting the laptop section and the main holding compartment, the small form factor also makes this a hassle free experience when commuting too. And I really appreciate the smaller details such as the hidden pockets in the bottle holders. The build quality itself is also amazing, no complaints.

The only "negative" I have to mention is regarding the "bag of holding" section / front of the bag, it CAN store a decent amount of items, but if you have anything in any of the pouches in the back (i.e. pens, books etc.), you're essentially forced to empty all the contents out beforehand, rather than reaching around or easily nabbing what you need. I’ve somewhat mitigated this by buying a tech sack to do a majority of the organising. It's not a huge deal especially if you don't plan on storing a whole lot in the front area but it is definately something to keep in mind.

For those thinking of purchasing this but have a 15~ inch(ish) laptop, while the laptop pouch will not fit or be extremely tight, I found that placing the laptop in the middle section instead made it work (somewhat). Keep in mind the bag claims it does not support laptops of this size, but this was just my own workaround, your milage may vary.

I Am Satisfied.
Great product to me. I will not get into detail of this bag, there are ao many posts and videos online and the review on lttstore.com is exceptionally constructive. I watched almost everything about it online before making this purchase (and during the one whole month of shipping) and I find them quite true. One thing I would point out tho is that the organization area in the main compartment is really meant to hold low-profile items and WILL be a hassle if you got the audacity to disagree with what every buyer points out. I’ve been forced by this design to carry a tech sack to do my own organizing. I can’t honesty categorize this design as features but defects. But hey, to each their own.

Mind Where It Came From
Despite the effort Linus made to avoid people accepting their products as yuotuber merch right away, they still suffer from the fact that they have little reason to outperform a similar product from a legacy brand. The market simply does not work that way. I know nothing about bag criteria but I like to believe bag industry does have some entry threshold.
I didn’t say this to get you prepared for a disappointment, actually I meant to emphasize on the excitement this bag is supposed to bring to people. I want to remind people that it comes from a media company taking a massive risk to design, produce, stock and sell something entirely outside their traditional wheelhouse. And that context matters. The product turns out genuinely impressive.
I can’t express enough how much credit they deserved when they took that astonishing bet when they mass produced the OG backpack. Back then I really didn’t need that big of a bag, and this purchase today of the Commuter is me taking my hat off to their previous execution on the OG bag. How dare you, and good job. (Deduct one life for nobody discovered the double layer thing)

We Go Way Back
As someone who’s followed Linus Tech Tips for years, my first encounter with the channel was quite random on Bilibili back when I’m in high school (now I’m 23), at that time I was not particularly into tech, just looking for any channel that (almost)daily upload videos for my entertainment while eating. By time I learned to use VPN only to get on Youtube and watch their videos in time (thanks to chinese goverment) so I don’t have to wait for every video to be translated and vetted and uploaded on Bilibili a week afterwards. Content-Consumption-wise, I’ve been almost dependent on ltt shortcircuit, MacAddress(rip) to the point that I won’t miss a single video. I’m deep into their culture that LMG is virtually the only channel I find myself consistently watch (Confession time: I never watched any exclusives cause I earn rmb and find it hard to swallow the Floatplane fee).
I saved money for quite long to buy a commuter and a bolt action pen this time and now the quality wins me over entirely. One day after receiving I already made another purchase of the noctua edition screwdriver and precision one along with some items. And if one day I win a lottery I WILL stock tons of OG screwdriver to gift to all my friends. I’m THAT proud of this team.

Not a Fan Post
At this point people would proudly call themselves FAN but I never liked that concept, I would say that I just really appreciate this group which happens to be an internet influencer for me to get to learn about. Especially I appreciate Linus’s integrity, his vigor at work, his passion into leaving something behind (I didn’t think for a millisecond that he could actually sell the company at that time of acquisition and he showed up with the EXACT reason I would have guessed: His life would not be that different). I strongly relate to his views on many significant matters. And I greatly, GREATLY admire what unique relationship and balance he and Luke shares, I don’t often admit being jealous, but boy do I ever want that relationship, mutual supporting and correcting.
I’ve nothing to say to Linus, he knows what he’s doing and he is meant to end up where his doings take him, good or bad. But shout out to every man and woman in this group for all the difference you’ve made and keeping your chief of vision on track.

Great bag!

I love this bag! Works incredibly when I need to head to the office and carry my 15in laptop. Despite the weight of the laptop, I don't feel it. Bag is so well designed and doesn't feel bulky at all when going through the metro or bus.
