A great water bottle

Holds a nice amount of water that stays nice and cool for essentially the entire day. It comes in clutch when I'm on the go, in a deep work session, and in so many other areas of my day! Plus a sick design of a motherboard on it is a really nice touch. Honestly my favorite product besids the deskpads and the backpack. Great work as always from LTT

Great quality

This was my second 40oz water bottle from LTT. Like the first, the quality is fantastic. Love that it can keep ice for a day even in the head of summer in Texas! (Indoors mind you lol)

Nice water bottle with some caveats

A fairly nice water bottle overall. I purchased the mystery bottle and received a dark green motherboard pattern. Not too bad. Glad it wasn't a bright colour like pink or yellow!

Pros:
- It keeps the contents cold for many hours. It's quite surprising to find that the liquid is still refrigerator-cold even after 6+ hours sitting in the bottle at room temperature.
- The build quality feels quite nice. You feel like you're holding a quality product.
- Easy to clean, though it would definitely be better if the whole thing was dishwasher safe.

Cons:
- The loop on the plastic top is a little on the small side and is angled too horizontally. If I stick my finger through the loop to carry the bottle, my knuckle is pushed right up against the corner of the lid and it hurts. This could be easily remedied by changing the angle of the loop so that it angles upward more and not so horizontal.
- Due to the nature of the insulation, the bottle doesn't hold nearly as much liquid as it seems like it would. The bottle is nearly the size of a 2L soda container but only holds 1L of liquid. For something this large, I was hoping it would hold at least 1.5L of liquid.
- The bottle does not have a weighted bottom and ends up being somewhat top-heavy when full. Not everyone would necessarily want their bottles to be even heavier, but when you're carrying this tall bottle in the water bottle sleeve of a standard backpack, these sleeves are short and only cover the bottom 1/3 of this bottle. When the bottle is full of liquid, most of its weight is above the top of the backpack's bottle sleeve so the bottle easily slides out of the sleeve and falls on the ground while you're walking. I only got 10 feet out my front door when the bottle came crashing down on the concrete and now has a huge dent in it. The dent doesn't affect the insulation effectiveness, but it's an eyesore. This problem could be easily solved by adding a bit of weight to the bottom of the bottle. That would also make it less likely to tip over when bumped while sitting on a surface.

Improvement suggestions:
- Since the insulation is far better than I would expect from a water bottle, I would be okay with sacrificing some of the insulation effectiveness to hold more liquid. I don't need my drink to still be 3°C eight hours after I leave home. I expect and am okay with some loss of coldness over time. I would rather it keep the liquid really cold for 3-4 hours and instead hold 1.5L of liquid instead of just 1L.
- As mentioned above, a slight increase in the angle of the plastic loop would save knuckles. Easy fix. This would also give the bottle an overall slimmer profile because the loop wouldn't stick out as far horizontally.
- Find a way to make the bottle itself dishwasher safe.
- Perhaps add a thicker metal base to add balance and stability, or offer some sort of purchasable add-on to snap a heavier base onto the bottle so that it doesn't fly out of backpack bottle sleeves so easily. Sure, if every backpack were designed for tall heavy water bottles, this wouldn't be necessary. But most are designed more with something smaller in mind, so this is a problem. I don't want to have to dangle my bottle from a carabiner instead because that comes with it's own set of problems and annoyances. I just want to slide it into the backpack sleeve and not have to worry about it.

Conclusion:
Would I recommend the LTT 40oz water bottle? At the standard non-mystery price, I would say no. It is definitely made of quality materials and has outstanding temperature insulation, but for its limited capacity and other minor flaws, it is quite pricey. The mystery bottle pricing is closer to what I feel would be an adequate price point for this product, as long as you end up receiving a colour and pattern that you don't mind. I'd have been disappointed in my purchase if I ended up with a bottle in a colour that I really didn't like. So complete satisfaction may not be guaranteed.

If LTT could make improvements such as the ones I suggested above, I would much more readily recommend this product. But as things stand now, I have to give it a 3/5.
